It is a crazy time of year for high school students! Not only do you have to worry about classes, sports, and extracurricular activities such as algebra, football, and prom committee, the holidays are on the way, testing is around the corner, and you have to start thinking about how much money you need to raise for next years prom you are trying to get organized.

There is so much to do, and so much to take into consideration. Not only do you have to think about venue, entertainment, and your own outfit, you have to consider how you are going to come up with the perfect theme that is going to get your classmates excited about their prom next year!

Here is an option for you! Have your prom here at MD Resort in Aurora Texas just north of Fort Worth Texas. MD Resort has a great new venue, The Oaks at MD Resort that consists of 2 beautiful buildings. The first holds up to 300 guests and hosts a stage for entertainment such as a band, DJ booth, or possibly a place to present the prom king or queen. The second is a little larger holding up to 400 guests and has a top of the line kitchen that can serve up amazing food for your gathering.

Here is a list of themes that may be perfect for your prom committee along with some affordable decorating ideas to go with the theme.

Haunted House/Halloween

Ok, you don’t have to combine the two, or you can. Your choice! But think of this, all the underclassmen are waiting for the day of their prom, and they are dreaming about crashing yours. Why not make it easy for them? I am not saying have them crash your party. I am suggesting use them to help create the perfect party. Not only can they be the workers for your haunted house, you might be able to get some free decorating labor out of them! Definitely a way to save a little bit of money and time to put towards other areas of your classes prom!

Masquerade Ball/Mardi Gras/Carnival

A Masquerade Ball is a classic and beautiful theme that allows you to go to your prom incognito! Definitely a formal theme, you can use beautiful rich colors to create a fantastically magical feel for the night you are working so hard on! The best part is, you can easily blend this theme with other themes! For example, the masquerade ball is synonymous with both Carnival and Mardi Gras, and your teachers can use the themes to teach the entire school how the three are historically relevant to one another! Want to know more? Perhaps you can look up how Mardi Gras is celebrated throughout the world by another name. The best part is decorations can be found easily and affordably allowing your class a memorable evening of fun and merriment that will be remembered for years to come. Need more people to help out with prom? Create a few different Krewes (spelling correct) and then have your friends join the one they want to be in. Maybe learning can be fun after all!

Candy Land

Sugary sweet concoctions creating flavored crystals and a hint of cotton with lollipops, gumdrops, and candy hearts galore, candy land has just become more than a childhood game. It may just be the theme of your prom! You can make your dreams of standing in a candy store and eating to your heart’s content come true grown up style! The idea is bright bright bright, the brighter the colors the better! Throw in a little bit of candy, ordered in bulk, throughout the space, decorate with giant candy your class decorates, and gather all the beanbag chairs you can find to replicate the Gumdrop Mountains, and you have got a night filled with sweet memories that will last a lifetime!
