There are countless things to do in Fort Worth, but if you are looking for something a little educational and a lot of fun, the Cultural District is an ideal spot for a trip. With several museums, restaurants, shops and entertainment, this area of Fort Worth is sure to please all ages. And when spring is in the air and the Texas weather is even more unpredictable than normal, it is nice to have a few indoor activities as options.

The area is home to seven museums including the National Cowgirl Hall of Fame, Kimbell Art Museum, and the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History. You can’t visit Cowtown without stopping by the Cowgirl Hall of Fame. This museum displays artifacts, pictures and stories of the ranch women who helped “shape the West.” The science museum has a live, interactive planetarium that provides an exciting educational experience that is sure to be remembered, among many other exhibits.  The Kimbell and the Modern Art Museum both house various collections that are sure to excite any art enthusiast.

After a morning exploring all the wonderful museums, head just down the street for lunch in the Gardens Restaurant at the Botanic Gardens. The oldest of its kind in Texas, the gardens are home to over 2500 types of plants. It’s a wonderful place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and just relax for a bit. With many different areas to explore within the living museum, you could easily spend the rest of your day taking in all the native and exotic species and then stick around for an evening educational program like “Plants that Conserve Water” or one of the many other sessions offered at the gardens.

For a more traditional day in the city, visit some of the many restaurants and shops that surround the cultural district. The new and upcoming area, commonly known as West 7th, is home to so many fantastic restaurants, bars and shops. It’s the perfect place to end your day with a little shopping at the unique boutiques followed by a wonderful meal at one or several restaurants. After all, if they’re all so close together, why pick just one? One suggestion would be to choose one for happy hour, one for dinner, and a third for dessert! Whether you are looking for Italian, steak, or Tex-Mex, West 7th has a wonderful restaurant for you.
